Quarantine can be a boring time for all of us and its the perfect way to catch up on your reading. I will be reviewing one of my top favourite books in each part of this article along with some fun activities to do with your family. So lets get into it..

Holding up the Universe by Jennifer Niven:

Holding up the Universe traces the growth of a relationship between Libby Strout and Jack Masselin.

Libby was once known as America's fattest teen, weighing 653 pounds, when she had to be cut out of her house.

Jack is hiding the fact that he has prosopagnosia, an inability to recognise faces of familiar people, he hides his disease by acting as an arrogant jerk, by acting obnoxious and by being the life of the party. He does anything and everything to keep himself from becoming the prey in high school. Better to hunt then to be hunted.

To protect himself, he accidentally makes Libby a target for bullies. But Libby is self-confident and her hope and positivity makes Jack take a good look at his life from a different light.

This book is one of my favorites because it taught me something very important. It helped me to overcome my insecurity that i had due to my weight. It made me realize that beauty comes from within and not on the outside. I am sharing this realization with you in the hopes that this may be able to help you and those around you. The following paragraph is an excerpt from the book and it really changed my perspective of looking at Life.

'Life is too short to judge others. It is not our job to tell someone what they should feel or who they are. Instead, we should spend some times on ourselves. We all have insecurities we can work on. Insecurities that prevent us from wearing what we want, from acting how we want to etc.

We should stop asking Do these jeans make me look fat? We shouldn't care if it makes us look fat or not. We should wear what we want to wear and OWN it.

It is important to remember that: YOU ARE PERFECT. Big, small, tall, short, pretty, plain, friendly, shy, skinny, fat. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, not even yourself. Especially not yourself.'

Another important thing that I have learnt from this book is: Never to let anyone else determine your worth, you deserve the world and more.
